Lagos State Launches Rice Fortification Plant to Tackle Malnutrition

Lagos State has inaugurated a rice fortification plant at the Lagos State Rice Mill in Imota, Ikorodu, to address the rising malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies in the state. The initiative, led by Oluwarotimi Fashola and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasizes the importance of fortified rice in combating nutritional deficiencies.

The plant will produce high-quality fortified rice containing essential micronutrients like iron, zinc, folic acid, and various vitamins. Emmanuel Audu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, highlighted the state's commitment to food security and sustainability through strategic steps like this investment.
