Man Arrested for Selling Sister's Baby for N2 Million

A 30-year-old man residing in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly selling his sister's one-month-old baby for N2 million. The incident came to light when the baby's mother reported the matter to the police.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the case was directed by Olohundar Jimoh to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti for detailed investigation. During preliminary questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to arranging the sale due to severe financial difficulties, which he claimed were influenced by the need for funds for his late mother's burial.

The suspect connected with a woman seeking to adopt a child via Facebook and acted on behalf of the buyer to collect the child. After the transaction, he transferred N500,000 to his sister and used the remaining money for the burial.

The police reiterated their determination to crack down on child trafficking and urged residents to remain vigilant.
