Lagos State Government Introduces 25% Subsidy on Essential Food Items Ahead of Festive Season

The Lagos State Government has rolled out a 25% subsidy on key staples like rice, beans, and garri through the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Mushin. This initiative aims to reduce prices and make food more affordable for residents during the upcoming festive season.

Abisola Olusanya, the Commissioner for Agriculture, announced the launch of the second phase of the Ounjẹ Ẹkọ Farmer Subsidy Program to support farmers and address the rising costs of inputs. The program includes discounts on essential food items and free distribution of grains to pig farmers.

The first phase of the program benefited 5,000 farmers directly, resulting in increased poultry and fish production.
