Lagos Teacher Adeyemo Busayo Wins 2026 Maltina Award

Adeyemo Busayo, a secondary school teacher at Lanre Awolokun High School in Gbagada, Lagos, won the 2026 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, receiving a cash prize of N10 million and a brand-new Honda HR-V. The award ceremony took place on October 30 at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, organized by the Nigerian Breweries (NGX: NB)-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund.

This year marked the first time the overall winner received a car along with the cash prize. In addition to her personal rewards, Adeyemo secured a N30 million infrastructure development project for her school, a one-year supply of Maltina, and an all-expense-paid international capacity-building training program.

The competition had 2,243 valid entries, with 10 state champions reaching the finals through online assessments and physical screenings. The first runner-up was Yusuf Cariyat from Wisdom International School of Excellence, Abuja, who received N5 million, while Ephraim Jacob Inyangudo from Comprehensive Secondary School, Akwa Ibom State, placed third with N3 million.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the initiative for recognizing teachers.
