ANEP to Launch African Neurodiversity Conference in Lagos

The Association of Nigerian Educational Psychologists (ANEP) will host the inaugural African Neurodiversity Conference (TANC) on October 20-21 at Children’s International School, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The conference, themed “Shifting Minds, Implementing Actions,” aims to address the gap between awareness and practical support for neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia.
Mrs Eniola Shakirah Ayinde-Olajobi, President of ANEP, stated that the conference seeks to move beyond discussions to implement strategies that can positively impact schools, families, and workplaces. Experts such as Prof. Julie Washington, Dr Martin Bloomfield, and Prof. Bolanle Olawuyi will discuss various aspects of neurodiversity, including education and advocacy.
The conference will also feature a Young Minds Forum to encourage student advocacy and the establishment of neurodiversity clubs in schools. Sessions will address the experiences of parents and the challenges schools face in supporting neurodivergent learners.
