Lagos Deputy Governor Hamzat Links Traffic to Creative Growth

Obafemi Hamzat, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, spoke at PODFEST Naija, highlighting how the city's notorious traffic has inadvertently boosted content consumption and growth in the creative industry. He noted that many Lagosians engage with podcasts, music, and films while stuck in traffic, particularly on routes like Ojota to Obalende and the Third Mainland Bridge.

Hamzat remarked that traffic has become a lifestyle rather than a problem, suggesting that it has become a patron of the creative industry. He emphasized the need for safety and liberty as essential for creativity to flourish.

Additionally, he mentioned that the Lagos State government is supporting innovation through funding for various sectors, including health, education, and technology. Hamzat urged creators to develop sustainable business models and protect their intellectual property, stating that merely having a large audience without a business model is insufficient for success.
