Lagos State Trains Teachers on AI and Digital Learning

The Lagos State Government has launched a training program aimed at enhancing the skills of secondary school teachers in artificial intelligence and digital learning. This initiative took place from April 8 to April 10, 2026, and was organized by the State Teaching Service Commission in collaboration with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The workshop, themed "Digital Pedagogy and Artificial Intelligence," was designed to improve teaching and learning outcomes in public schools across six educational districts. Tolani Ali Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, emphasized the importance of integrating digital teaching methods and artificial intelligence into the educational sector, which is rapidly evolving due to technological advancements.

Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, the Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, noted that the training aims to shift teachers' mindsets towards learner-centered approaches and encourage innovative teaching methods. The program also highlighted the need for teachers to remain updated on emerging technologies while considering ethical implications, such as data privacy.
