Nigerian Golfers Compete for N30 Million at Lakowe Classic

The 2026 Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic will take place at the Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate in Lagos, featuring Nigeria's leading professional golfers competing for a total prize purse of N30 million. The championship consists of two phases, beginning with the Nigeria Closed from September 28 to 30, followed by the international phase from October 2 to 4.

Notable participants include Sunday Olapade, Godwin Okoko, Andrew Odoh, and others, with female professionals and senior golfers also competing. The Nigeria Closed will be played over 56 holes, intensifying competition among professionals returning to the domestic circuit.

Gift Willy stated that the championship offers an opportunity for golfers to regain competitive sharpness. The second phase will attract professionals from Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa, with a total prize money of $50,000 and World Golf Ranking points available.

Lakowe Lakes Golf Course Manager, Femi Olagbenro, mentioned significant investments made to prepare the facility, emphasizing the importance of providing a challenging course for the players.
