Lawyer Appeals to IGP for Release of Detained Client

Edeh Uchenna, a legal practitioner, has submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, concerning the ongoing detention of Godwin Francis Akpan. The petition, dated September 24, 2026, highlights that Akpan's detention is linked to a police investigation regarding a commercial dispute between his employer and another company, with no formal charges filed against him. Uchenna argues that while the police have the right to investigate, they must adhere to due process and respect judicial authority.
