Shettima: Leadership Requires Tough Decisions for Growth

During a keynote address at the Niger Delta Agricultural Development Investment Summit in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized that leadership is not for "nice men" but requires courage and the ability to make difficult decisions for national development. He commended Rwandan President Paul Kagame for his governance, contrasting Nigeria's larger population with Rwanda's, which is half that of Lagos State.

Shettima urged Nigerians to rediscover the country’s agricultural heritage, noting that agriculture once served as the backbone of Nigeria's economy and remains a critical source of jobs and economic opportunities. He also praised Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for his swift response to a proposal for a $500 million investment in Nigeria's oil palm sector, which aims to develop 10,000 hectares in the state.

Shettima concluded that true leadership involves making tough decisions rather than seeking popularity.
