Nigerian House of Reps Order Paper 12 March 2026 Key Bills

The House of Representatives sat on 12 March 2026 with a wide-ranging agenda. Nine executive bills seeking to amend laws governing healthcare professionals — including chemists, radiographers, public analysts, medical laboratory scientists, community health practitioners, dental technologists, optometrists, dental therapists, and medical rehabilitation therapists — were introduced for first reading. Also introduced were executive bills to amend the NAFDAC Act, establish a National Blood Service Agency, and create a Federal College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

A notable member-sponsored bill, the Dollarisation of Nigerian Economy Bill, 2026 (HB.2731), sponsored by Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi, was listed for first reading. Two separate bills to create additional local government areas — Owerri South and Owerri East — in Imo State were also introduced.

A committee report on amending the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) to protect victims of fraudulent account withdrawals was also scheduled for presentation.
