Tunde Lemo Backs Solomon Adeola for Ogun Governorship

Tunde Lemo, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has officially withdrawn from the Ogun State governorship race for the 2027 elections, declaring his support for Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi. Lemo announced his decision in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abeokuta, explaining that it followed deep reflection and wide consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.

He described his withdrawal as an act of statesmanship rather than a defeat, emphasizing a strategic realignment to strengthen the Progressive Congress and promote unity ahead of the upcoming elections. Lemo expressed confidence in Adeola's capabilities to sustain the achievements of the current administration led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, who aims to position Ogun as an industrial innovation hub in Nigeria.

Lemo called for party unity and urged support across the state's 20 local government areas to mobilize fully behind Adeola's campaign, pledging to contribute his experience in finance and public policy to ensure victory. His withdrawal coincided with the Ogun chapter of the Progressive Congress formally adopting Adeola as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
