Katsina State Advances Digital Transformation Initiatives

Katsina State is implementing self-powered digital initiatives to enhance its digital transformation, as articulated by Naufal Ahmad, the Director of the Katsina State Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (KATDICT). The state aims to reduce dependence on foreign ICT services, which drain billions annually, and instead leverage local expertise.

This initiative is expected to save the state approximately N5 billion that would otherwise be spent on consultancy fees. KATDICT oversees the digital transformation across 118 ministries and agencies, facilitating the procurement of hardware and software, and managing infrastructure.

The state has laid 27 kilometers of fiber optic cable to connect key government offices and has distributed 2,000 ICT devices to support digital processes. Governor Dikko Umar Radda is committed to building local capacity and incentivizing training programs in technology sectors, including artificial intelligence and biotechnology, to foster a robust digital economy in Katsina.
