Mistrial in Lindsay Clancy Case Due to Juror's Past Charge

The Lindsay Clancy murder trial resulted in a mistrial on September 4, 2026, after seven days of deadlocked deliberations, primarily due to a lone holdout juror. Court records disclosed that this unidentified juror faced a domestic assault and battery charge in 2021, which was dismissed.

The charge arose from a September 2021 incident involving an argument with his wife, where he allegedly grabbed her by the throat. Legal analysts noted that while a dismissed charge does not disqualify someone from jury duty, intentional misrepresentation during jury selection could lead to perjury.

Throughout the trial, evidence was presented that Clancy suffered from severe postpartum psychosis when her three children were killed in 2023. The jury was split 11 to 1, with eleven jurors favoring a verdict of not criminally responsible.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington plans to move for dismissal on double jeopardy grounds at a status hearing scheduled for September 29, 2026. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has not yet decided on retrying the case.
