Liverpool Appoints Andoni Iraola as New Head Coach

Liverpool has officially appointed Andoni Iraola as their head coach on a two-year contract, succeeding Arn Slot, who was dismissed on Saturday. The 43-year-old Iraola previously managed Bournemouth, where he led the team to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League, just three points behind Liverpool.

This performance secured Bournemouth a spot in the next season's Europa League. Iraola announced his departure from Bournemouth in April and was linked to moves to Crystal Palace and AC Milan before joining Liverpool.

Despite Liverpool finishing the Premier League season with 60 points, their lowest tally since the 2015-16 season and 25 points behind champions Arsenal, Iraola expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating he understands the challenges ahead and is ready to compete for titles. He also indicated plans to bring Tommi Elphick and Shaun Cooper as part of his coaching staff at Anfield.
