Low Voter Turnout in Ilawe-Ekiti Amid BVAS Issues

Voter turnout in Ilawe-Ekiti was notably low, attributed to challenges faced by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at a polling unit in Ado-Ekiti. INEC officials were present but reported delays in the accreditation process, particularly in Ward 6, Unit 005, located in the Iyinmi area.

Elderly voters experienced difficulties as the BVAS struggled to capture their fingerprints and facial features, leading to multiple unsuccessful attempts. Mr.

Gabriel Ojo, an elderly voter, described the situation as unfortunate and urged INEC to improve the voting process, especially for older citizens. Chief Folorunso Ojo, a community leader, noted that the low turnout reflected a growing loss of faith in the electoral process among residents, who were encouraged to exercise their civic responsibilities despite the challenges.

Senator Adaramodu, a spokesperson for the Senate, was also mentioned in relation to the electoral situation.
