Nigerian Navy Officer Escapes Assassination Attempt After Clash with Minister Wike

Lt Yerima, who had a recent confrontation with Minister Nyesom Wike over a disputed land site, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by unidentified men in black attire riding in unmarked vehicles. The incident took place in the Federal Capital Territory, near Gado Nasco.

The clash between Yerima and Wike had sparked public debate and led to the intervention of the President, halting the demolition exercise at the disputed site. Minister of Defence, Mohammad Badaru Abubakar, assured that military personnel acting lawfully will not face sanctions.

Investigations into the assassination attempt are ongoing.
