Mainpower Secures 20-Year License from EERC in Enugu

Mainpower Electric Distribution Limited has been granted a 20-year operating license by the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC), making it the first subsidiary to receive such a license in Enugu State. Mr.

Chijiok Okonkwo, Chief Executive Officer of Mainpower, highlighted that this achievement was made possible through the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, who initiated the articulation of the Enugu State Electricity Policy 2023. The policy aims to enact the Enugu State Electricity Law 2023 and develop a competitive electricity market with multiple players across various sectors of the electricity value chain.

Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, Managing Director of Mainpower, expressed appreciation for the EERC and Governor Mbah's confidence in Mainpower.

The license is expected to support the establishment of a reliable and sustainable electricity market, with a focus on customer engagement, service reliability, and operational efficiency, including the enhancement of metering programs and digital transformation.
