Major Breakthrough in Anti-terror War as Nigerian Security Forces Capture 2 Leaders of Ansaru Terrorist Group

Nigerian security forces have achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism by capturing two top leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group. National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu announced the operation's success, which took place between May and July, resulting in the decapitation of the group's leadership.

The captured leaders, Mahmud Muhammad Usman and Mahmud Malam Mamuda, were described as key figures in coordinating terrorist activities across Nigeria and beyond. They were involved in various attacks, including the 2022 Kuje prison break and the abduction of foreign nationals.

Ribadu emphasized that this operation marks a turning point in dismantling Ansaru's central command structure and signals the beginning of the end for terrorist leaders in Nigeria. The security forces also recovered valuable digital evidence, which is undergoing forensic analysis to generate actionable intelligence.
