US Airports Face Ground Stops and Delays Amid Staff Shortages

Several major US airports, including Newark Liberty International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and others, experienced ground stops and flight delays on Sunday due to a reported staff shortage in air traffic control. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued ground stops at various airports, leading to average delays of around 82 minutes.

The situation was attributed to a combination of factors such as staff shortages, weather conditions, and high demand for air traffic management. Transport Secretary Sean Duffi noted an increase in staff shortages across the system.
