Makarfi Critiques Lazy Politicians Predicting Rigging

Ahmed Makarfi, the former chairman of the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party), stated that only lazy politicians predict electoral rigging, urging political actors to engage constructively in the electoral process rather than making premature allegations of manipulation. He expressed confidence that the PDP remains a formidable force despite internal challenges and emphasized that the party's future is not solely dependent on individuals.

Makarfi acknowledged the difficulties faced by the party, particularly regarding member loyalty and the influence of ethnic and religious affiliations on voter behavior. He warned that Nigerians are becoming increasingly discerning in their electoral choices and that political parties must work hard to earn votes.

Makarfi reiterated the importance of respecting electoral laws and regulations to strengthen Nigeria's democratic process, stressing that no candidate or party can assume victory ahead of the 2027 elections.
