Deji Adeleke: INEC Chair Not Solely Responsible for Rigging

Deji Adeleke, a businessman and elder brother of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, addressed the 12th undergraduate and 8th postgraduate convocation ceremony at the University of Osun. He asserted that no chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can single-handedly prevent electoral rigging.

Adeleke pointed out that while INEC is responsible for overseeing elections, issues arise from the actions of youth corps members and police officers who may collude to manipulate results. He highlighted the alarming trend of violence during elections, which has resulted in the deaths of young people.

Adeleke criticized the practice of corps members accepting bribes to alter figures at polling units, stating that this undermines the electoral process and tarnishes Nigeria's reputation. He called for a collective effort to improve the electoral system and ensure a better future for the youth of Nigeria.
