Afenifere Calls for Peaceful Campaigns Ahead of 2027 Elections

Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organization, has called on politicians and political players across Nigeria to ensure that the upcoming 2027 general elections are issue-based and conducted peacefully, free from violence and thuggery. This advice was issued in a communiqué following a caucus meeting held on Tuesday at the house of its leader, Reuben Fasoranti, in Akur, Ondo State.

The communiqué, signed by the organization's national public secretary, Jare Ajayi, highlights serious concerns regarding the deteriorating security situation in the country. Afenifere urged both federal and state governments to enhance military and security agencies' capabilities and to implement effective security measures.

The organization specifically called on the governors of the six South West states to take decisive actions against the rampant insecurity affecting the region. Afenifere also commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to address security issues and expressed condolences to the families of soldiers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
