Afenifere Urges Peaceful Campaign Amid Rising Insecurity

Afenifere, a prominent Yoruba socio-political group, has expressed serious alarm over the rising killings and insecurity in South West Nigeria. During a caucus meeting led by Reuben Fasoranti, the group emphasized the need for politicians to shun violence and adopt peaceful campaign strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.

A communique signed by Jare Ajayi highlighted the urgent need for governors in the region to take decisive action against the escalating tide of terror, including strengthening local security outfits and accelerating the establishment of state police. Afenifere also advocated for a multi-layered approach to tackle insecurity, urging military and security agencies to adopt both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.

The group underscored the importance of internal collaboration among security agencies to expose and combat criminal elements exploiting the region's vulnerabilities.
