Makinde to Announce Bimbo Adekanmbi as Successor

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is preparing to announce Bimbo Adekanmbi, a former commissioner for finance, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. According to sources close to the development, this decision has been influenced by discussions among loyalists within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who are considering adopting the Action Democratic Party (ADC) political platform for the upcoming electoral cycle.

The governor has already settled on Adekanmbi as his successor, despite mixed views within the political parties. Makinde has directed the state advisory council, led by Bolaji Ayorinde, to engage with various governorship aspirants within the PDP.

This council has held separate meetings with aspirants to understand their plans and ideas for the development of the state. Among those involved in the discussions are House of Representatives member Adedeji Olajid, Nureni Adeniran, chairman of the Agricultural Business Development Agency, Debo Akand, and Adebo Ogundoyin, the speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
