Oyo Governor Makinde Calls for Hope on Independence Day

During a special thanksgiving service at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde, represented by the Head of Service Dr Adenike Fasina, called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, patriotic, and committed to nation-building in celebration of Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary. He emphasized that individual contributions, no matter how small, are vital for national progress.

Makinde acknowledged the challenges facing Nigeria but assured that the country is making gradual progress. He urged citizens to play their roles in fostering a prosperous Nigeria.

The Provost of the Cathedral, Very Rev. Samuel Olawoyin, also addressed the congregation, highlighting that Nigeria has not yet achieved full independence due to ongoing neo-colonial influences. He called for the Federal Government to effectively utilize the country's natural resources to improve living conditions.

The service concluded with a special prayer for Oyo State and Nigeria.
