Brighton Stuns Manchester United with Comeback Victory

Manchester United was knocked out of the Carabao Cup following a 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. United started strong, with 19-year-old academy product Shea Lacey scoring in the eighth minute, followed by Mason Mount's goal just one minute later, giving United a 2-0 lead.

However, Brighton responded in first-half stoppage time with Charalampos Kostoulas scoring in the 45th minute. The second half saw Brighton equalize through Pascal Groß in the 65th minute and then take the lead with Maxim De Cuyper's goal in the 69th minute, completing a remarkable comeback.

Despite attempts by United's coach Michael Carrick to regain control, they could not find an equalizer. This defeat represents another challenge for Carrick and his team after a recent loss to Manchester City in the Premier League, highlighting their struggles in the early part of the 2026/27 season.
