Accord Party in Osun Ready for Mandatory E-Registration

The Accord Party, led by National Chairman Maxwel Mgbudem, announced its readiness to comply with the new electoral act that mandates political parties to register members electronically. In a statement released on Wednesday, Mgbudem emphasized the importance of this compliance for the party's future, particularly as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

He called on party members across Nigeria, including those living abroad, to take advantage of the opportunity to sign new membership cards. The party aims to ensure that its membership aligns with the new electoral framework established by the government, which includes a digital membership registration process to identify genuine members.

Mgbudem instructed local and zonal executives to mobilize members for an extensive membership drive, which is crucial for the party's success in upcoming elections. The statement also highlighted concerns from opposition parties regarding the new rules, which they believe could narrow the democratic space.
