Concerns Rise Over Accord Party's Readiness for Osun Election

As the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State approaches, concerns regarding the Accord Party's preparedness have escalated, highlighted by recent resignations and defections within the party. Governor Ademola Adeleke has been observed to have a slow campaign coordination, which has limited visible activities ahead of the polls.

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission has signaled the start of the campaign, Adeleke has yet to announce his director-general for the re-election bid, raising questions among stakeholders about the party's campaign structure. Yusuf Adegboy, convenor of the Osun Accord Liberation Movement, issued a statement warning that the lack of a clear campaign structure could lead to confusion among the electorate.

Additionally, Osunrotimi Ifeoluwa, a board member of the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, resigned on April 10, 2026, citing a lack of empowerment and opportunities for the people of Osun State. Reports indicate that more party members are leaving, causing unease within the ruling camp.
