LCFE to Establish Domestic Fuel Prices for Businesses

The Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange (LCFE) is set to establish credible domestic reference prices for petroleum products, which will aid manufacturers, airlines, and other petroleum-dependent enterprises in budgeting, procurement planning, and cost forecasting. This initiative follows the LCFE's recent licensing by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to facilitate trading and clearing of petroleum liquids.
Akin Akeredolu-Ale, the managing director and chief executive officer of LCFE, stated that the initiative aims to create a credible marketplace for trading petroleum products through organized mechanisms. The framework will include two-way quotations, standardized trading contracts, and transparent transaction processes to enhance price discovery and market information.
This initiative is expected to benefit businesses by improving inventory valuation, sales planning, and margin analysis, while also intensifying competition among refiners and marketers.
