MAN Reports N1.35 Trillion Spent on Power in 2025

In 2025, Nigerian manufacturers spent approximately N1.35 trillion on alternative power generation, up from N1.11 trillion in 2024. This increase is attributed to high electricity tariffs and unreliable power supply, which have raised industrial operating costs.
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) announced this expenditure ahead of its 2026 Manufacturers Energy Security and Energy Efficiency Summit. MAN President, Dr Ifeanyi Okoye, stated that the two-day summit will focus on reducing industrial energy costs, improving access to affordable gas, promoting energy efficiency, and mobilizing financing for alternative power solutions.
The summit's theme is “Innovative Energy for Cost-Effective Smart Manufacturing with Structured Financing.” Okoye emphasized that high energy costs limit manufacturers' ability to expand production and compete effectively. The summit aims to explore ways to strengthen energy infrastructure, diversify power sources, and enhance public-private partnerships to promote sustainable manufacturing in Nigeria.
