Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship Initiator Commends Nasarawa State Government for Sports Development Efforts

Mark Igoch, the initiator of the Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, visited the Commission for Youth and Sports Development in Kwanta Bohar and commended the Nasarawa State Government for its commitment to promoting sports development. He praised Governor Abdullahi Sule for using sports as a tool to empower youth, drive economic growth, and foster social unity.

Igoch highlighted the success of Nasarawa United FC, one of the top three clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League, attributing it to the government's heavy investment in infrastructure, including the upgrade of the Lafia City Stadium. The state's sports programs focus on talent discovery, with initiatives like the annual Governor's Cup and participation in national sports festivals.

Governor Sule's mandate emphasizes using sports to reduce unemployment and promote peace among young people. The state runs the annual Governor's Cup football tournament across its 13 local government areas to discover grassroots talent and support sports competitions statewide.
