Matawalle Launches DICON Institute and Solar Project in Kaduna

On Wednesday, Dr Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, inaugurated the DICON Institute of Technology and a 240-kilowatt solar inverter system at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna. The solar facility, named YAKUSAK, includes a 240-kilowatt solar inverter system and a 343-kilowatt-hour energy storage facility, designed to ensure reliable power for DICON's operations.

During the inauguration, Matawalle stated that the institute aims to provide the necessary technical expertise to promote Nigeria's self-reliance in defense production and decrease dependence on foreign military technology. He emphasized that the institute would train personnel to design, develop, and maintain critical national security systems.

Matawalle described the establishment of the institute as a pivotal move towards enhancing Nigeria's indigenous defense industrial base and urged the management to collaborate with industry and academic institutions to foster innovation and technological advancement.
