Cunha Backs Carrick to Revive Manchester United's Glory

Matheus Cunha has expressed his support for interim manager Michael Carrick, believing he can restore the spark of Manchester United's successful Ferguson era. Cunha scored during the recent match where United defeated Liverpool 3-2, securing UEFA Champions League qualification with three matches to spare.

This achievement seemed unlikely earlier in the season, despite football director Jason Wilcox's insistence that returning to Europe's elite competition remains a goal. Carrick has overseen 10 wins in 14 matches, positioning himself as a candidate for the permanent managerial role.

Cunha highlighted the need for the squad to maintain high standards, warning that four more points are necessary to guarantee a top-three finish. Since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, United has struggled, finishing fewer than 12 points behind the champions, with the closest chase occurring in the 2020-21 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
