Mbappe's Knee Injury Misdiagnosed by Real Madrid Doctors

Kylian Mbappe's knee injury was misdiagnosed by Real Madrid's medical team after an MRI error in December 2025. The medical team mistakenly examined his right knee instead of the injured left knee, which showed no damage.

This misdiagnosis allowed him to play in three matches despite visible swelling. Mbappe first felt discomfort during a 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo on December 7, following a heavy collision in a match against Manchester City.

He returned to complete 90 minutes in the club's final three games of the year, but concerns deepened during a training session on December 30, when he was seen repeatedly holding his left knee. Consequently, he was ruled out of a trip to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

He made a late cameo in the final against Barcelona on January 11, which ended in a 3-2 defeat, leading to Xabi Alonso losing his job. Mbappe returned to action, featuring in eight of the next ten matches and scoring nine goals, but missed the March 2 fixture against Getafe due to ongoing knee issues.
