Marcelo Declares Cristiano Ronaldo as GOAT Over Messi

In a recent interview with Mexican content creators Isi and Benny, known as Si somos gemelos, Brazilian football legend Marcelo reaffirmed his preference for Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi in the ongoing debate over the greatest football player of all time. Marcelo stated, “Oh, let me see… But you already know: Cristiano to the death.” His choice is influenced by the nine seasons he spent with Ronaldo at Real Madrid, where they won multiple titles, including the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga.

This is not the first time Marcelo has chosen Ronaldo; in a December 2025 interview with YouTuber DjMaRiio, he acknowledged Messi's talent but identified himself as a “devoted Cristiano enthusiast.” Marcelo also reflected on the privilege of witnessing both players during their careers, stating that he faced challenges competing against Messi but ultimately believes Ronaldo holds the advantage due to their shared experiences. While Marcelo has retired from professional football, Messi and Ronaldo continue to compete, with Messi currently playing for Inter Miami and Ronaldo for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
