Stephen DeLeonardi, an American YouTuber known as SteveWillDoIt, gifted luxury watches worth $1 million to each member of the Mexican national football team and staff following their match against Ecuador in the Round of 32 at the World Cup. The event took place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on a Sunday, with local time noted as 01:00 BST on Monday.

However, the Mexican players decided to return the watches based on Article 21, which states that gifts of trivial value cannot be accepted. This decision was made through a mutual agreement with DeLeonardi, who had hoped the team would reach the quarter-finals for the first time since hosting the World Cup in 1986.
