Carrick Criticizes Referee After Leeds Defeats Man United

Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, expressed his frustration with referee Paul Tierney after his team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United at Old Trafford. The match saw Lisandro Martinez sent off in the 56th minute for pulling the hair of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a decision that Carrick contested.

He argued that Calvert-Lewin's earlier contact contributed to the incident. Leeds had already taken the lead with Noah Okafor's first-half brace, scoring in the 29th minute after a defensive error.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Manchester United managed to score in the 69th minute through Casemiro, assisted by Bruno Fernandes, who recorded his 17th league assist of the season. The defeat marked Leeds' first league win at Old Trafford in 45 years, lifting them six points clear of the relegation zone with six games remaining.

Martinez faces a three-match ban, and Carrick confirmed that the club would discuss a possible appeal. Manchester United remains third in the Premier League, seven points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea.
