Middle-Belt Tigers Claim Inaugural Nigeria Super League Title

The Middle-Belt Tigers triumphed in the inaugural Nigeria Super League, defeating the Southern Sharks by six runs in a thrilling final held at TB Oval. The match concluded a competitive tournament featuring 20 matches that highlighted the growth of cricket in Nigeria.

The Tigers, led by wicketkeeper Sulaimon Runsew, won the toss and opted to bat, scoring 104 runs for 5 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. The Southern Sharks, in response, managed to score 98 runs for 7 wickets, with Isesel Odion leading their effort with 26 runs off 21 balls.

Captain Isaac Okp contributed 15 runs off seven deliveries. Despite their valiant chase, the Sharks fell short, securing the Tigers' victory.

In earlier matches, the Northern Lions secured third place with a 32-run victory over the Central Eagles. Solomon Chilemanya of the Middle-Belt Tigers topped the batting leaderboard with 172 runs, while teammate Ndubudem Elochukwu was named the tournament's best bowler with 14 wickets.

The tournament's valuable player award went to Isaac Danladi of the Southern Sharks, who recorded 168 runs and 13 wickets.
