Military Pension Board Warns Against Pension Fraud

The Military Pension Board (MPB) has issued a strong warning to military retirees and their next of kin regarding pension fraud. Squadron Leader Aliyu Moham, the board's spokesman, stated that individuals are contacting retirees under various pretenses, including promises of facilitating loans and fast-tracking benefit payments.

These fraudsters often request sensitive personal financial information, such as Bank Verification Numbers (BVN), National Identification Numbers (NIN), bank account details, and ATM card information. The MPB emphasizes that it does not engage agents or third parties to collect personal bank details related to pension processes.

Retirees are urged to treat unsolicited requests with suspicion and report any relevant information to the authorities immediately. The board is intensifying efforts in collaboration with relevant security regulatory agencies to curb fraudulent activities targeting pensions and encourages retirees to remain vigilant and verify communications purportedly from the board.
