Nigerian Military Clarifies Nigeria-US Security Cooperation for Counterterrorism Efforts

The Nigerian military's headquarters in Abuja clarified the ongoing security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States. Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, highlighted the long-standing partnership focusing on capacity building, professional military education, intelligence sharing, and logistical support.

The collaboration aims to strengthen cooperation mechanisms, improve coordination, and enhance joint efforts in countering terrorism and transnational threats. Recent high-level workgroup meetings involving senior US government officials and their Nigerian counterparts have been conducted to bolster this partnership while respecting Nigeria's sovereignty within the existing bilateral framework.
