Millions of Out-of-School Children in Nigeria Declared National Emergency by Vice President Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared the millions of out-of-school children in Nigeria as a national emergency, stressing the necessity for collaborative efforts among the federal government, state governments, local communities, and stakeholders. Shettima highlighted the importance of proper training and welfare for teachers, recognition of the teaching profession, and the need to equip young people with market-ready skills.

The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) and the Nigeria Education Forum (NEF) are working together with the Federal Ministry of Education to address the education crisis. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State also emphasized the urgency of overhauling the education financing and delivery system to secure the future of Nigeria's young population.
