Federal Government Re-enrolls 1 Million Out-of-School Children to Strengthen Education System

The Federal Government of Nigeria has re-enrolled 1 million out-of-school children nationwide as part of efforts to enhance the education system. The Minister of Education, Dr.

Tunji Alausa, announced this initiative during the 69th National Council of Education meeting in Akure, Ondo State. President Tinubu approved significant funding for the program, which includes a school feeding and welfare program targeting 300,000 pupils.

Key reforms include the implementation of a Teacher Registration and Licensing System (TRL) by the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), a nationwide teacher training program, and online teacher development programs with financial incentives upon completion. Additionally, a cloud-based Digital Nation Education Management Information System (DNEMIS) was launched to improve data collection and decision-making processes.
