Anambra Flood Rescue: Boy Found Alive, Tragedy Strikes

A boy who was swept away by floodwaters in Anambra was found alive a day after the incident, prompting relief and gratitude from the community. This event occurred against the backdrop of a tragic incident involving Success Ezenwafor, a pupil of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Primary School, who was swept away while traveling to school on September 23.

His body was recovered the following day after an extensive search operation along the Nibo–Isiagu Road, which had experienced severe flooding due to heavy rainfall. The Anambra State Police Command reported that Safe School Operatives, along with local community members, successfully rescued seven schoolchildren and two adults from the flood.

Success Ezenwafor was described as brave for attempting to help others escape by breaking a vehicle window, but he was unable to save himself. The Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Chinedu Okafor, confirmed the recovery of Success's body and expressed sympathy for his family.

The incident underscores the vulnerability of individuals to sudden flooding and the urgent need for preventive measures.
