Monarchs Urge Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa for Akure North Support

Traditional rulers from Akure North, led by Oba Faborod Idowu, have formally requested the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to address political imbalances in the region. In a statement, they emphasized the need for fair and just political arrangements within the constituency, highlighting that Akure South currently occupies the Senate seat and House of Representatives position, which they argue is neither equitable nor sustainable for democracy.

The monarchs pointed out that Akure North, comprising 12 wards and significant economic potential, particularly in agriculture, has been politically sidelined. They warned that continued exclusion could breed discontent and weaken trust in party structures.

The traditional rulers reaffirmed their loyalty to Tinubu while insisting that this loyalty must correspond with fair political representation. They urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to act swiftly to correct the imbalances and ensure equitable representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
