Enoh Urges NADDC to Boost Local Vehicle Production

Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, called on the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to enhance the production of locally assembled vehicles and expand electric vehicle manufacturing in Nigeria. Speaking in Calabar, Cross River State, during the cultural and retreat night concluding the 2026 Strategic Management Retreat of the NADDC, Enoh stated that the success of the retreat should be measured by tangible improvements in the automotive industry, including increased locally assembled vehicles, reduced maintenance costs, and job creation.

He highlighted the Federal Government's Nigerian Industrial Policy, which prioritizes the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP). Enoh noted the recent handover of 100 electric buses assembled in Nigeria as evidence of local capacity growth.

He also announced plans for an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Cross River State and the establishment of an Automotive Training Centre at the Cross River University of Technology and Entrepreneurship, emphasizing the need for skilled manpower in the transition to cleaner mobility.
