FG Allocates N400bn for Mosques, DSS Arraigns Kidnappers

Findings by The PUNCH reveal that approximately 78 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the Federal Government have earmarked nearly N400bn in the 2026 budget for various projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of mosques, traditional rulers’ palaces, community halls, village market squares, and civic centres. In a related security development, the Department of State Services has arraigned five suspected members of the Ansaru terrorist group before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

These suspects are linked to the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, as well as the alleged killing of two victims during the incident. This dual focus on budget allocations for religious and community projects alongside ongoing security issues highlights the government's current priorities.
