MOSOP Disassociates from Meeting with Ooni of Ife, Emphasizes Commitment to Dialogue

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has disassociated itself from a meeting with the Ooni of Ife, stating that their leadership was not involved or informed about the purported meeting. MOSOP's President, Fegalo Nsuke, clarified in a statement that the group remains a mass-based movement with every Ogoni subscribing to its membership.

The Saakpenwa High Court's order restrained individuals like Prince Biira, Lazaru Tamana, Letam Nkpoka, and Legborsi Saro Pyagbara from representing themselves as MOSOP's leadership. MOSOP nullified elections conducted on March 27, 2024, and January 20, 2024, and urged support for Nuhu Ribadu-led dialogue to address critical issues affecting the Ogoni people.

They emphasized the need for calm and support for their leadership to navigate towards the development and liberation of the Ogoni nation.
