MTN Nigeria declares ₦26 interim dividend after ₦707.5bn H1 profit
MTN Nigeria's board approved half-year results showing 70.6% profit growth and authorized interim dividend payment scheduled for September.
On 29 July 2026, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc's board convened and gave approval to both the interim financial statements and an interim dividend distribution. The following day, this decision was communicated via a corporate filing to the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
During the six-month period that concluded on 30 June 2026, the telecommunications firm achieved a profit after tax reaching ₦707.5 billion—a remarkable 70.6% surge relative to the prior year. Revenue from services expanded to ₦2.97 trillion, reflecting 25.9% year-on-year growth.
During this half-year interval, the company's per-share earnings totalled ₦33.7. Shareholders appearing in company records as of 20 August 2026 will be entitled to receive ₦26 per ordinary share as an interim dividend, though withholding tax deductions apply.
From 21 August 2026, the shareholder register will remain closed. Electronic fund transfers to qualifying shareholders are set to begin on 7 September 2026.
In accordance with stock exchange guidelines, the company maintains restrictions on share transactions during the closed period. Across operational performance, MTN Nigeria displayed growth through numerous channels.
Customer numbers expanded by 8.9%, bringing total subscribers to 92.2 million. Free cash flow jumped 73.9% year-on-year, reaching ₦712.7 billion.
The company's EBITDA climbed to ₦1.7 trillion—a 39.2% increase—while the EBITDA margin broadened by 5.3 percentage points, settling at 55.9%. Spending on capital projects, net of lease costs, amounted to ₦620.5 billion.
