MultiChoice Launches Wethu+ Channel in DStv Overhaul

MultiChoice has launched Wethu+, a new channel on DStv, as part of its largest package overhaul in nearly two decades, effective September 17, 2026. Wethu+ is now available on channel 163, replacing Mzansi Wethu and consolidating content from Mzansi Wethu, Mzansi Bioskop, and Mzansi Magic Music.

The channel aims to provide families with a diverse range of entertainment, including local dramas, movies, telenovelas, reality shows, children's programs, and educational content. Wethu+ will also feature international blockbuster movies and daily news updates.

A significant aspect of the channel is its live sports coverage, including two Premier Soccer League matches every weekend. The restructuring includes new DStv packages while retaining some existing plans, with DStv Compact subscribers moved to a dedicated DStv Sports package.

This initiative reflects MultiChoice's strategy to reorganize its offerings based on subscriber interests and enhance the value of its pay-TV business amid competition from streaming platforms.
